Ministry of Education and Sports

Ogerta Manastirliu, born on December 31, 1978, in Tirana, is the current Minister of Education and Sports as of September 2023. She holds a Ph.D. in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry, having completed her studies at the University of Tirana’s Faculty of Natural Sciences, where she earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in General Chemistry. Manastirliu has also served as an adjunct lecturer at the same institution.

Previously, from 2017 to 2023, she was the Minister of Health and Social Protection. Her professional career began in 2004 at the Municipality of Tirana, in the Project Coordination Directorate. From 2005 to 2011, she led the Directorate of Housing and Social Services, significantly contributing to the development and implementation of the “Local Social Housing Strategy.”

Between 2011 and 2013, she worked as a social policy and human resources expert for various national and international organizations, including UNFPA and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. She then directed the University Hospital Center “Mother Teresa” in Tirana from September 2013 to March 2017.

Since 2017, Manastirliu has served as a Member of Parliament representing the Tirana District in the Albanian Parliament and is part of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group. She was re-elected in the April 25, 2021 elections and is also a member of the Socialist Party’s leadership.
